Fraser Island apple - Acronychia imperforata

APPEARANCE : Small bushy glossy-leaved native tree, self-fertile, found in SE QLD. Clusters of cream flowers appear through summer and autumn followed by small yellow-gold edible fruit, tart and much loved by birds. Fraser Island QLD is a World Heritage site and in 2021 is renamed K'gari, the original aboriginal name, meaning 'paradise'.Native and coastal gardens as a feature tree and for hedges and screening. Attracts birds, butterflies and bees to the garden.

Plant Information

HEIGHT & WIDTH : H 5-8 m x W 3-4 m

PLANTING :Sunny to part shade, suitable to exposed and coastal areas from NSW to northern QLD. Frost tender.

CARE :Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prefers well drained soil. Fertilise using a slow release native fertiliser yearly.
