Paperbark Melaleuca quinquenervia
APPEARANCE : Melaleuca 'quinquenervia' is commonly known as the Broad-leaved Paperbark. This species is a small to medium sized tree with the trunk covered by a white, beige and grey thick papery bark; hence the name 'Paperbark'. During spring through to autumn Melaleuca 'quinquenervia' blooms white bottlebrush-like flowers that contrast against the grey-grey foliage. Melaleuca 'quinquenervia' is ideal for screening, windbreaks, rural properties, large gardens and parks. Once established it will tolerate a range of climatic conditions, some of these including coastal positions, drought and light frosts. Melaleuca 'Quinquenervia' is also fire tolerant, it is known to resprout vigorously from epicormic shoots after bushfire, and has been recorded flowering within weeks of being burnt.
